question during I-485 interview

A somehow stupid, yet rather sensitive question. If one was GCD member before leaving PRC and checked "No" for the I-140 and I-485 application, how should she/he reply if this issue would be asked during I-485 interview? Would they ask such question? Could FBI found out the fact through the name check process?
