well, as what I was told by both the lowyer and the OIS people, it is risky if they saw your 485;
You all agree that F1 can not extend I-20 after filling 485, right? OPT is an EAD under F1 status, almost the same situation as F1 extension...
F1 is non-immigrant status, after filling 485, you are fine without renew F1 or extension, but you can not change from any status to F-1 anymore
So their suggestion for me is to apply for EAD via 485 to work; If do not need to work, your status is AOS, you need not to switch to H or L(dual intention), but you can.
BTW, why OPT is needed? you can use EAD if 140 passed which is renewable since it will be enough time before you get the H1
