急！F1递交485后， F1身份是否自动失效？？？

我们在140通过后， 赶在本月递交了485，但两人都是F1(一人正在OPT,准备办理H1)

但是，学校国际学生办公室的负责人说，“F1递交485后，
1. F1身份自动失效; 且有可能无法申请H1;
2. 而且在递交485后到拿到EAD卡之前，收入属于非法；现在的OPT也是无效的....

但是我的律师的回答和上述完全相反！
