L-2 Visa

Dear Dr. Fan
I have a question need your help. I have a relative who came to US recently by L-2 Visa. He is going to be 21 years old. His I-94 is signed for 3 years. Is there any problem for him to stay in American after his age over 21? and Is there any negative influence on his green card application for him to hold L-2 visa after his age over 21 years old? Thanks.
