I485 switch

Attorney Fan said that I485 can be transferred from one I140 (NIW) to another I140 so long as both I140s are still current. I wrote to INS to ask for this transfer several months ago, but I have not got any reply from INS. I have no idea if INS have doen the transfer. Did anyone do this transfer successfully before? Does the CIS will inform you after the transfer is made? Thank you for sharing your experence.
