Change job during H1 extension

Hello,

I need some advice...

My H1 will expire in one month. My current employer has filed the H1-B
extension, but it has not been approved (could possibly cost another few
months). If I want to change my job (already have an offer), do I need to wait
for the approval or can the new company file a new H1 for me?
