help for urgent concern

I submitted I-140 (NIW) and I-485 concurrently for me and my family in March. My I-140 was approved in April. I thought our I-485s might be approved within one year. But now there is a severe retrogression for EB categories. The problem is that my child will be 21 years old next May. In such case, can my child still be qualified as a dependent applicant after 21 years old? Is there any effect on his pending I-485. Please share your experience. Thanks a lot!
