Help! Re-locate to the States

I am a Canadian citizen living in Canada. My wife lives in the States. She is a green card holder. I am going to move to the States to join her. Could anybody help me to clarify the follow things?

1. What kind of visa or permit does the US law require me to have if I want to live in the States permanently?

2. Does the US law require me to come back to Canada every 3 or 6 months to renew this permit or visa?

3. Are there any websites that pubilish the OFFICIAL laws with regard to this issue?
