Issue related to I-485 filing

Can I apply for CPT after I file I-485? I don't want to use EAD to jeopardize my F-1 status in case my I-485 is denied.

How does USCIS system and SEVIS system work with each other?

Will I got into some trouble if they find out I am using the benefit of F-1 after I filed I-485? Thank you very much!!
