I-131 Question--please help

The instruction of I-131 form said "If you are in the United States and wish to travel abroad, you do not need apply for advaced parole if both conditions describled below in numbers 1 and 2 are met:
1. An H-1, temporary worker,
2. A Form I-485 is pending"

I cannot make sense about it. If I don't need to apply for advaced parole, how could I come back to USA, even though I am holding an H-1 Visa and I-485 pending?
