question about Canada immigrat

I will go to Canada for a job next month. Today I went to local police department for non-criminal record at US. The local police issues a non-criminal record letter for me, but I was told I need a certification from FBI through fingerprint. Can I use the local police certification for non-criminal record in US for Canada immigration?
Any reply is highly appreciated.
