Please! suggestion on Postdoc.

Could anybody tell me if it is all right to start the postdoc job in the States in Oct. without defending the Ph D thesis, but already submitted and will defend between Sept and Nov this year? I am doing my Ph D in Germany, but getting the degree in China. Thank you very much for any suggestion.
