question about h-4 checking

Anybody has idea about how long the h-4 background checking may take? my wife has been waiting for 6 months since filed the application in Beijing. Looks like the US consulate is just fooling around instead of doing any checking, they just want to make people sad.

Does anyboday know how to make the thing faster?
