H4 and EAD questions

I have a question about H4 application. My hu*****and has H1-b and also applied for green card (I140 approved and I485 pending). I have F1 (which will expire this August), but I am using the EAD (for I485) to work at a company. My hu*****and asked me to apply for H4 before F1 expires because it will be safer for us. However, my friend told me that I can’t apply for H4 since I am using EAD. How is right?
