take the offer or not

I was laid off last month, applied F1 and got notice. Now, got an 3-6 month contract offer? should I take the offer or not? what is the advantage or the disadvantage?
I am planing to look for a full time position within 6 months. Is it difficult to get new H1 after I get my F1 within next 6 months.
