请教各位专家加拿大公民妈妈要到美国陪读小孩怎么合法呆在美国？

朋友是加拿大公民，孩子是美国公民，现在住在北京，计划带孩子到美国读中学，妈妈能以何种身份呆在美国陪读呢？如果是旅游签证，每半年去加拿大一趟，可以继续回来吗？多谢！
