You should choose hotel based on where you want to stay. Time square and central park areas are most convenient. If you really want to enjoy, 4 stars are better, Le Meridian has modern deco and lets you feel you're in NYC, but it was $190, off season, much higher in Xmas. If you are budget-minded, just find one in NJ and commute every day.
