They also have a list of hotels for Priceline & Hotwire, so you know where you'll stay before finalizing the bid.

Another strategy is to use an expired credit card or card with wrong CID/CVV value. Priceline will search hotels without authorizing your credit card first. It will notify you if your price is too low. However, if your price is good enough, it will come back with an authorization declined message. So you can lower your price again.

I agree with Gu jian. Bidding for rental car is really good. For hotels, sometimes it is a hit or miss.
