If it exceeds 4.8 billion shares (the index component shares only) with a significant drop on the day, it is highly likely a bottom. On September 30, 2011, the volume was 3.6 billion shares. We are getting close but not yet. If you want to catch a dead cat bounce today, good luck! Get in and out quickly!
