请教∶旅游的问题！！！

请教各位，如果只有香港身份证、持中国护照，而不是永居，从香港出发到国外旅游的话什麽流程？
是不是先去旅行社登记？再去相应的大使馆自己办签证吗？有什麽注意的地方？很想和lg去北海道，有去过的吗，分享下经验，先谢谢。。。
