国别和地区分析部分书是从日本讲起,我先引用点关于香港有意思的说法,大家看看乐一乐。一开始就讲有人说luxe gluttony是七宗罪之一,有的人说推动社会进步。Hong Kong people see it as neither, Frankly, they don’t have the time to bother – they’re too busy at a mall nearby.
接下去说在香港经济腾飞之前,奢侈品的消费者主要是nightclub girls,她们带着自己的客户去shopping,店里的人会根据男人穿戴来报价,Gucci就报高价,Pierre Cardin就报低价。第二天早上女孩把买的衣服送回店里可以拿到70%的refund。经济腾飞之后大亨们成为消费主力(具体写了香港一些富豪是如何由代理奢侈品发家),再到后来日本和大陆的游客成为消费主体。
大陆游客多了以后也带来问题,作者写了一段话It's like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, on Rodeo Drive with a stash of cash. How do you serve a constant flow of mainland Julias without upsetting local customers。这段话引起一读者的强烈反感,她的评语是”The book is racist, particularly towards the Chinese. Chinese customers are likened to a classless prostitute.”
我部分同意该读者的观点,因为两位作者关于香港部分的从开始到结束都以”情人,情妇”贯穿,不过又感觉电影导演塑造的那个角色的目的更多是用来反衬Julia的善良,单纯,以及富人们的薄情寡义和无知。
接下去有一节写得有意思。
