Well, all scenarios have been explained extensively.
The best move is to contact HK 入境事务 dept. .
Or more aggressively and save time, just use china passpart+US green card to enter HK, then report to HK 入境事务 dept office, and renew the visa.

BTW, the sponsor company should have contact w/HK 入境事务 dept.; They might have more experiences and resources to deal w/this case.
