Hi! It's good to hear from you! It's okay, if you ever have a question, about religion or whatever, please feel free to ask. That is the only way to get answers. :)

It is a little complicated, but I will try to explain clearly. My church actually does NOT practice polygamy (where a man has several wives). That was stopped over 100 years ago when a law was passed in the United States making it illegal.

The name of my church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or LDS for short (Latter-day Saint). We are called Mormons. BUT, there are 2 groups that have split off from my church, and started their own churches because they believe very differently. They are also called Mormons. One of those churches DOES practice polygamy. The name of the church that practices polygamy is similar to mine: The FUNDAMENTALIST Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or FLDS (Fundamentalist LDS). It causes some confusion because the names are similar.

The problem is that members of the other 2 churches are also called Mormons. So members of 3 different churches can be called Mormons. Many people believe that Mormons belong to the same church, but they do not. A Mormon is someone who believes that The Book of Mormon is ure just as the Bible is.

Members of the third church I mentioned usually live in what are called religious compounds or in their own towns. They often shun outsiders and won't talk to them. They dress differently than most Americans do, and there are not many of them. Some people think they are a cult, and so some people think that all Mormons are like that. However, as you saw, many Mormons are not. We live just as other people live.
So the short answer is: some "Mormons" practice polygamy but they belong to a different church than I do. So it is a bit confusing.
There is a website you can go to to better understand my church's basic beliefs. It should clear up some questions that you or your friends have. I have the link to the English page, but at the bottom of the page you can change it into Chinese. Here is the website in English: www.mormon.org

Here is the link to what I think is the Chinese page:
