Maccabi said it has 128,600 members who have seen seven days pass since full vaccine protection kicked in — and only 20 have caught the coronavirus after they were considered immunized.

Leading immunologist Cyrille Cohen told The Times of Israel that among the general population, around 0.65% are infected in a given week.

Maccabi reports that out of the 20 people infected, 50% suffer from chronic illnesses. All patients experienced a mild illness with symptoms including headaches, cough, weakness or fatigue. No-one was hospitalized or suffered from a fever above 38.5C. Most patients tested for COVID-19 due to exposure to a verified patient,”

According to ministry data, out of the 189,000 people who were tested for COVID-19 after receiving the jab, 12,400 were found to have the virus.

The majority of those infected had contracted the virus shortly after receiving the first vaccine, when inoculation is yet to take effect. However, some 1,410 people tested positive two weeks after the first dose, by which time recipients should be partially immune.
