      在传统中药中，何首乌（Polygonum multiflorum）的根块被用作补益剂和抗衰老剂，常用于治疗脱发和头发早白。相关制剂有ShenMin、首乌片和首乌丸。
     到2006年3月30日，有7宗怀疑与何首乌相关的不良反应病例通过黄卡系统（Yellow Card Scheme）报送到了英国药品和健康产品管理局（MHRA）。7例报告均与肝损害有关，其中1例为肝功能异常，7例均见黄疸，2例为肝炎，1例黄疸并肝 功能损害。患者包括5名女性，2名男性，年龄为36-70岁。用药原因为治疗脱发（3位服用ShenMin，3位服用首乌丸）。所有患者在停药后均康复。
     文献中也有服用何首乌引起肝炎的病例报告(见参考文献1-4)。
