Brand wise:

-Varilux is a popular and trusted brand. they are handled by Essilor (their dealer) and they have lab in many places of USA. it is a special order your eye glass store will have to place it for you. take about a week to arrive.

-Varilux Comfort is a good choice. Better yet, Varilux Physio 360 is best, very expensive.

-polycarbonate lenses are plastic, light, and durable. not easily shattered. but thinker. good for active people or kids.

-high index: is glass.. thinner, good for high power lenses.

-transition: color only changes when you are outside your vehicle. While driving, your windshields blocks the UV, so it won't change color. you will need a large size sunglasses, (or another prescription sunglasses or a clip on).

-cost wise, with lenses and frame (average price), it is about $600.00. how much insurance would pay, it is up to your plan.

-if you order it here, and for any reasons, it doesn't work, you can return or do exchange.. within certain time. (check with your store). but if you get it from China.. that may be complicated. (not sure if Varilux is available in China).
