Doctor asked me to take iron supplement as much as I can tolerate. My period is heavy each month and it gets worse when you have pressure. I figured it out that birth control pill may balance my hormones. I have taken it for seven months. I had my physical exam and blood test. Results showed that all the numbers were normal, for your reference: I took iron supplement occasionally and always forgot it. 

I don't know if birth control pill is your best choice, but it worked for me.
