This happens on rare occasions, and is due to the presence of very low concentrations of virus that can not be precisely quantified. The results in these cases are reported as "<20 IU/mL, Detected". The clinical significance of HBV viral DNA detected at this low level is not yet known. These results should be correlated with other clinical or diagnostic findings and re-testing is available upon request for confirmation.
