原来是H1b（有效期是2006年），
If you have been working for the petitioner all along, you are still H1B and no such thing as 现在的工作用的是EAD.
But what you mean by 现在的工作用的是EAD is that you changed job, and no longer working for the H1B petitioner. Then you don't have a valid non-immigrant status now and can not get a new H1 I-94 through change of status with USCIS. You need to file I-129 and after approval, get H1 visa stamp at a consulate outside of US and then re-enter to get a new H1 I-94.
