AS long as you had not used up all of your 6 year H-1, your new employer can file an H-1 petition for you to use the left 6-year H-1 time. For example, you had been the H-1 status for 4 years several years ago, then now your current employer can file a new H-1 petition for you for two years (total 6 years, old and new).
