Can we just send a letter to explain that we only need an extension to maximum my 6 year and change the H1B extension request to a new expiration date? 

-Yes, just ask your HR Director to respond to the RFE by explaining that you are not qualified for the H1 extension beyond the 6-year H1 limit at this point and asking the H1 extension to Sept. 30, 2014. It will be fine.

How to relay for a REF like this? It is our mistake and I don't have supporting evidence to request beyond 6 years.

My first H1B started Oct 1, 2008

I transfered H1B to another company starting May 11, 2009 to may 2012.

Now, my H1B extention asking for May 12, 2012 to May 11 2015.

Now, I realized that I can only file extension to Sep 30, 2014
