Help: use AP or H1-B

Hi, I am planning a trip back to China and I have both valid H1-B and AP. If I use AP to enter the US, is it true that my H1-B will be no longer valid and I have to work under EAD? If I choose to get a H1-B visa from a consular in China and enter with that, does it affect the Green Card application process? Thanks for any insight.
