Take my advice:
1) File I-765 yourself tonight (efiling) or mail it tomorrow Sat
2) Stop working when EAD expires
3) ONLY start to work when you have new EAD handy, or H-1b approval notice w/ I-94 handy.

These will prevent you from becoming a lab rat.
