-Technically, you need to work for the new emplyer right away after you leave current employer, but practically, you can take some time off (e.g. a few weeks) because your I-94 is still valid and USCIS can not tell that you are laid off right away. You can work for your new employer during the h1 petition is pending. You also can wait for the h1 approval and then, work for the new employer.

如果可以四月底工作的话， 可以现在就quit吗？
