Anyone can have a maximum of 6 consecutive years of H status. H1-B, H-4, etc.

If the six-year period runs out, you'll have to leave the country for at least a year before you have another six years.

The only exception is that **at least one year before the six years end**, you submitted your LCA for the green card process. In this case, your H status can be extended one year at a time virtually indefinitely.
