Thanks for the reply. What if my current H1B expired? Can I ask the new company to file the transfer application? My current company did not apply the extension through Premium Processing. It is going to take a while to get approved due to the backlog in the Vermont Center.

Does it make a big difference for the new company to file a new H1B application and file a transfer application?
