you do have problems in coming back, as a receipt notice may not be considered in visa application.

If you go to apply H-1 visa in China, with your current H-1 approval notice, you will not be issued an H-1 or an H-1 with limited validity (expires on 10/1). You will need to enter US prior to 10/1, if you're lucky to be admitted. No, this is not over yet. You need to extend your H-1 then, before 10/1.

If you could have your extension approval notice to apply H-1 visa, everything would be fine.
