急问------ H1B 身份问题！! 多谢！

My situation:
I graduated last December and currently on OPT status (originally expires Feb 2008). With only an oral agreement with a consulting company, they sponsored me for my H1B visa (to start on 1st Oct 2007). I spent several months studying SAS and got an advanced certificate. But my company hasn’t marketed me very well. My H1B starts in three weeks, but my company has still not found any project for me.

My questions are:
1. Will both my H1B and OPT become invalid if I do not start working in October?
2. Since I don’t have a written contract with my current company, can I switch to another one if possible? If so, do I have to re-apply for H1B (since I haven’t started working yet), or can I transfer my current H1B to a new company?
