urgent H1B extension question

My case seems very unique, does anybody have any idea?

My H1B (first 3 years) is going to be expired on 09/30/3007, and I just filed I140/485 on 08/16/2007, and the company just filed H1B (regular processing) on 08/01/2007. I am worried that the extension won't be approved in time by 09/30/2007, and I can't even continue working after that cut time (09/30/2007), ane even worse all I140/485 petition will be void automatically.

I try to convince the HR and lawyer that they need to file H1B premium processing so that it can be approved by 09/30/2007. But they seem to think that as long as H1B extension is filed, it's ok to continue work / 140 / 485 petition. Is that the case? Do you guys have some links I can post to my HR and lawyer to help them determine?
