H1-B form change?

The starting date of the H1-B petition form my employer signed is July 1, and my boss is out of town for several weeks. I want to file my H1-B ASAP, is it OK if I just change the starting date in the signed forms or do I need to wait my boss to sign the corrected form? Thanks!
