请问小白兔, H1B Extension Question

Hi 小白兔,

My current H1B is expiring in early June. My company filed extension for me
at the end of March. However, the processing date has not been moving
since then. It is still January 13, 2007.

It seems very unlikely that my extension will be approved before my current
H1B expires. I wonder if there are any problems here.

1) Do I have to get the approval before I can continue to work for my company? 2) If not, what will be the start date of my new H1B?
3) Will there be any gap there?
4) Does that mean I will be working illegally?
