Urgent question on H1B : Do I need to file an amendment?

My job title is going to change from PostDoc to Research Professor. The international center told me that I need to file an amendment of my current H1B. My current status: I140 approved (NIW), 485 pending, used AP once but still on H1B because I continue working for the same employer. I don't know if it is really necessary to file the H1B amendment to USCIS. I appreciate the prompt response from Xiaobaitu and/or other experts.
