tax issue F1 OPT to H1B

Can anyone answer my questions please ?

Should the "Wages,Tips and Other Compansation" in W2 form include the "$5000" exemption ? My belief is $5000 should not be included in the wages. Am I correct ?

I switched to H1B in September 2003 from F-1 OPT. My employer didn't exempt my first $5000. What should I do ?
