If you really do not to leave, you can file a B2 application first to fill the GAP and then file an amend H1-B application (or refile a new H-1B and cancel the current one) based on the B2 application to get your new I-94. Discuss with the company lawyer to see if they are willing to do it.

Would you please let me know: what's the major difference between "file an amend H1B application" and "refile a new H1B and cancel the current one" ? The H1B quota is my big concern, which one is better? Thanks.
