1. It depends on your new contract (company) how long it is going to hire you.
2. you better prepare all the immigration documents when you apply.
3. You need to show your OPT card (copy) to fill the gap
4. If it is denied (which will be a rare case), your current H-1b is still valid, and you can apply newal or transfer to another company
5. your company will verify your transcripts. Once they verify, your company will submit the copies
