Speaking about football, "Texas" is the short term for "Texas

Longhorn",  the football team from UT Austin.

But when you ask people where they graduated from, they would say UT not Texas. 

Also never ask people if they graduated from UTA, because UTA is commonly referred to as UT Arlington.
