孩子签证问题

请问论坛中的各位朋友，
我的孩子是于2006年在德国出生的，当时她拿到了有效期直到2024年的德国居留。因为工作繁忙的问题，我们于当年就把小孩送回国内抚养。现在我们觉得应该带小孩回来了。据说德国的签证在离德超过6个月就失效了，我想请问一下是真的吗？如果我们带小孩回来的话，是否要给小孩重新签证？如果不签，在中国和德国的海关会有什么麻烦？会被查出来吗？
