Got green card today.
PD 2003 early April EB3. Current since May 2010.
1. Did SR early May; got standard reply saying “we are working on your
case. Please come back check with us in 180 days.” Really not very helpful
information.
2. Went to info pass early June; met a very nice IO. She told me that I
have passed all the checks; My finger print is OK; My case is assigned to a
IO in the middle of May; Everything is ready; All I have to do is wait. Felt
much better after that visit.
3. Called many times. Some customer service representatives are very nice
. Some are not so nice. So keep calling them. Some may help you more.
4. Did another SR, got a letter saying “no visa number available”. no
clue why they are saying that.
5. Went to info pass again. The IO assured me my case is definitely ready
. I could get card anytime, but no promise when it will happen.
6. Got text message and welcome e-mail on July 1st. Now look back at the
letter from second SR. Probably they did run out of numbers at the end of
third quarter. July 1st is the first day of fourth quarter.
7. July 6th, got the hard copy of welcome letter saying card will come in
three weeks.
8. July 12th (today), got the card in the mail.
9. Planed to write to Senator if nothing happened in July.
After current, my suggestion is to do whatever you can to push them. SR,
Info Pass or Write to Senator. All the effort will only help. There is an
idiom in America “The squeaky wheel gets oil”.
It is long a journey. Just the last step (after current) was quite a battle.
I do believe both the lobbyist and lawsuit filed by 猪坚强and his friends
helped us. I have donated to both programs. If we were treated like previous
years, I could still be waiting.
