OmniVision Expects 3Q Earnings Will Rise

OmniVision Technologies Predicts 3rd-Qtr Profit of Up to 39 Cents Per Share


SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Image sensor maker OmniVision Technologies Inc. predicted Thursday that its fiscal third-quarter earnings will rise based on current trends.
For the quarter that concludes at the end of January, OmniVision expects a profit of between 26 cents and 39 cents per share on revenue of between $220 million and $240 million. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of 7 cents per share on $134.4 million in revenue.

Excluding special items, OmniVision expects earnings between 41 cents and 54 cents per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect, on average, adjusted earnings of 41 cents per share on $219.6 million in revenue.

OmniVision shares rose 96 cents, or 5.1 percent, to $19.85 in after-hours trading, after finishing regular trading at $18.89.
