DJ Fed's Powell May Signal More Gradual Approach to Lowering Rates -- Market Talk
0327 GMT - Fed Chair Jerome Powell may signal a more gradual approach to lowering the Fed funds rate at Jackson Hole, says PGIM's Daleep Singh in a note. Following last week's U.S. CPI and PPI reports, inflation in the U.S. remains sticky and above 3%, the chief global economist says. There are the same number of components in the CPI at levels above 4% as those at below 2%, which has not been seen since the inflation spike in 2021-2022. Against this backdrop, PGIM remains comfortable with its forecast for 100 bps of Fed rate cuts through next year, about 50 bps less than current market expectations, he says. (monica.gupta@wsj.com)
